Back in the early days–before homeschooling was completely legal in Texas–I homeschooled my three children and graduated my youngest child in 2000.  While working as a nurse, I began teaching science classes in 2001 one day a week and now consider it a blessing to teach full-time at THEO.

Meet Mrs. Smith to learn more about her classes!

Mrs. Smith’s Classes

In addition to earning a BSN from Texas Tech, I have graduate hours from West Texas A&M.  My husband and I have owned a homeschool bookstore and a mail-order science business (Science Labs in-a-Box) which allowed our family to spend many summers traveling to homeschool book fairs across the country as exhibitors. Teaching is my spiritual gift as well as my passion – my desire for my students is that they see God in the universe around us and see and follow His plan for their lives.

One of my greatest joys is to bring science to life for the students with weekly hands-on experiments, thus our name Science Lab Tutorials.  Students most often learn best when they can see and do, not just read!
