I am blessed to be one of the early homeschool success stories (graduated in 1998!)  As part of that education, I had the opportunity to take in-depth, lab oriented science classes, which literally changed my life – both educationally and professionally.  It ingrained a deep love of science into my mind, which carries on to this day.  In fact, my first job was packaging and shipping out science labs and supplies to homeschool families with Larry and Paula Smith!

My university education was undertaken at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I earned a BS focusing on natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science and an MA focusing on global culture and business.  As part of my professional career, I worked in the Oil and Gas industry for twenty years, and have been blessed with the opportunity to live and work on five continents. These adventures have provided me wonderful reminders of the amazing Creator that guides both the world around us and our very lives.

I look forward to sharing my own passion for science, both with lectures and more importantly through laboratory experiments, and how this study can help us better understand and appreciate our wonderful God!

Teaching at THEO checks off every box for what I believe God wants me to be doing in this season of my life!

I am thankful God opened the door to be a part of supporting homeschool families as I homeschooled my sons, as well!

I am a newbie Texan having recently moved to Plano from Oregon where I have lived my entire life!  My husband and I felt God’s strong leading to move in order to be closer to our 2 sons who both serve in ministry and their young families.

We have 5 amazing grandchildren and can’t wait to live life side by side rather than through FaceTime????

In order to make the transition to Texas, I resigned from the Oregon private Christian School that I directed for the last 7 years.  Prior to that directorship, I taught Kindergarten and directed another private school for 15 years!

I homeschooled both of our sons through high school and led the area parent co-op group, as well as taught classes for homeschoolers.

I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

I have been a worship leader for the past 30 years and love helping children discover their calling in worship through piano lessons and songwriting!

I have written a children’s book and a novel and look forward to more opportunities to continue my love for writing by teaching the Friday Adventures literature and language arts class!

I am beyond excited to begin this new adventure at THEO and look forward to getting to know the children and families as we partner together to give children the richest education!

What a wonderful adventure life is when God is at the helm!

It is such an honor to have the opportunity to serve students and families at THEO!

I am a Texas certified teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in PreK-6 Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I earned both degrees from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) I have a strong passion for helping children grow and bloom into the best version of themselves. I have cared for children for 10+ years, tutored for 8 years, and been a classroom teacher for 6 years. During the 2020-2021 school year, I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year on my campus, a humbling moment that I will never forget. After several years serving students in the public school classroom, I felt the Lord tugging on my heart and leading me in a different direction. I feel extremely blessed that I get to continue my passion as an educator here at THEO, and I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s learning!

In addition to being a classroom teacher and tutor, I design and create curriculum and resources for teachers to help provide lessons that are engaging and purposeful for their students. I believe in developing the whole child and am committed to investing in a child’s learning because I believe it is the best one you can make! My favorite part of teaching is being able to build relationships with students and helping to meet their needs through fun and engaging activities.

My husband, Harrison, and I got married in March 2020 and moved to Allen, Texas shortly after. We do not have any children yet, but we do have a cat named Sophie who is full of energy and sass. We attend CityBridge Community Church in Plano and love serving alongside others. We love to travel and if we aren’t trying a new restaurant, we are probably playing card games at home.

I can’t wait to get to know you and your family!
