Mathematics
Our mathematics teachers bring decades of combined experience teaching everything from elementary foundations to advanced calculus. We offer multiple curriculum options including Saxon, Glencoe, and Jacob’s—allowing us to match your child with the teaching approach that works best for their learning style.
Not sure which level is right for your student? Many of our high school math teachers provide placement testing to ensure students start at the appropriate level for success. While placement tests aren’t the only factor in deciding where to place students, they provide valuable information and a starting point for discussion.
Need extra support? We offer Math Lab—on-demand tutoring for registered THEO students through Algebra 2, available Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Growing up in an unchurched family in South Houston, Jean was the first in her family to attend and graduate from college. After accepting Christ in college, she devoured God’s Word and pursued her teaching dream. Jean spent years teaching proprietary database systems for telecommunications companies before the Lord called her to motherhood and homeschooling.
When her oldest child struggled with cognitive weaknesses requiring years of therapy, Jean learned to adapt her teaching style to ever-changing day-to-day strengths.
“I have become a very patient teacher, and I believe that every student has the ability to learn if we can tap into their strengths and help them overcome their weaknesses,” Jean shares.

Teaching, teenagers, trigonometry—Dixie has a love and passion for them all!
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Dixie is a Texas certified teacher in both Mathematics and English. She enjoyed nine years as a Plano ISD high school mathematics teacher, teaching all levels of high school math courses. She obtained her Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of North Texas and was selected as Jasper High School’s 2001 Teacher of the Year and a Plano ISD Excellence in Teaching Award Winner.
Dixie left the public school classroom in 2002 with the seemingly exponential growth of her family—twins were born! Upon exiting the classroom, she began tutoring privately, enjoying working with students one-on-one while keeping up to date with current high school math curricula. In 2009, she and her husband surprised even themselves with the decision to homeschool their four children.
“We continue to find homeschooling a wonderful journey and are so thankful for the opportunity to teach, enjoy, and grow with our elementary to high school aged children.”
