In 1988 I married my bride and have continued to fall more in love with her year after year. She truly is my “help-mate”. I am so grateful and blessed that God hand selected her for me. My prayer is that she also has the same belief!

Since the fall of 2018, I’ve been teaching Apologia Physics at THEO.

We started our journey to the home school world while living in Florida. Little did we know at that time, God was working on us – preparing us to take direct responsibility for our children’s education. I had some concerns with the educational system in the area we lived in, and could not afford private school, so in combination of other factors we relocated from Florida to Texas in 1992. In 1995 when our first child was kindergarten age, (after we explored and exhausted the traditional educational options available), we took a step of faith and started to homeschool our son on a year by year basis using the Sonlight Curriculum.

We joined a local Coop in 2004 and my wife began teaching there the following year, subjects like American History, Geography, and her favorite (truly her passion) – Worldviews, such as Lightbearers and Understanding the Times from Summit Ministries. In 2013, I was asked to teach Economics and Personal Finances because of my professional background and passion. The next year I took over the Physics classroom – and I love teaching Physics. In my opinion it is the one science class that has the most fun – but that is my bias. After a total of 18 years of home schooling with Sonlight, our last child graduated in 2013.

In 2013 I finally listened to God’s gentle nudging and walked away from the corporate world forever – to devote more time to in mentoring the lives of young adults as well as to pursue my passion – helping people prepare to live their dreams: www.legacyfinancialcoaching.com

Both of our sons were married in 2017, so we are empty nesters and I get my wife all to myself again. I have to say that I do appreciate the ability to make last minute plans with my bride and to date her again like we did so long ago. Back in the BC era – “Before Children”.

In 2013 our oldest son graduated from TCU and is currently in a leadership position with BNSF Railway. He is also working towards his Master’s degree.  Our youngest son is pursuing his Bachelor’s in Cyber Security at one of the top 10 Universities in the country for that discipline. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Texas A&M Commerce, but more importantly, I have what would be the equivalent of a PHD in Personal Finances from the school of hard knocks.

My wife and I have been involved as mentors and adult leaders in the high school group at our local church for well over a decade. Having more time as empty nesters has allowed us the ability to become involved as mentors and leaders in our local young single/college students small group – as well as recently taking an active role in the Election Vetting Committee for the Texas Home School Coalition.

I have been an educator, teacher, coach and mentor (from young adults to the seasoned professionals in positions of leadership) for the past 30 + years, but not all of that time was I in a classroom setting – most of the time this happens in the “real life” setting. As parents, one of the many things that kept motivating us was when we were able to see the “lights click on” in our child’s eyes – when understanding and clarity of thought occurred.  That has been true for the past 30 + years. I always try to find the opportunity to enrich the lives of those around me, while having fun in the process. Having a servant leader heart and leadership style, it has been my goal to help improve the quality of life for those in my circle of influence.

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walk in the truth” 3 John 1:4.
